HINTON W.Va. (WVDN) – According to a criminal complaint, on May 3, around 11:32, an officer received a call for trespassing from Summers 911. It was in the vicinity of Main Street in Hinton. The caller stated that there was a green SUV parked on his uncle’s property and that the property owner was out of town and nobody should be on the property.
When the officer arrived at the location, he found the green SUV, a Toyota RAV4 with West Virginia registration, parked in the driveway behind the house. As the officer looked around, he reportedly came across two Individuals exiting the house. They were identified as Amber Nicole Yancey and Joel Franklin Price. According to the criminal complaint, Yancey and Price told the officer that they were there to meet another person and that they were picking up property from him. They reportedly went on to say that they had loaded up items to be dropped off at another location.
The officer proceeded to contact the owner of the property and confirm that he didn’t know the individuals and that they didn’t have permission to remove items from the home. When the officer looked in the vehicle, he found items belonging to the owner, including three boxes of 12×12 tile valued at approximately $120, 14 boxes of 8×8 tile valued at approximately $550, and 24 stair balusters valued at approximately $180. The approximate value of everything together is $850. Yancey and Price both allegedly stated that the front door was open and that they didn’t break into the residence by force.
