HINTON, W.Va. (The Hinton News) – On Wednesday, July 15, the Summers County Sheriff’s social media shared the following story:
This afternoon, while conducting proactive patrols in the Temple Street area of Hinton, Summers County, Sheriff Justin Faris observed what appeared to be a suspected narcotics transaction and initiated an investigation.
As a result of the investigation, Ernie Cook and Tiffany Cales were taken into custody.
During the investigation, deputies recovered multiple items commonly associated with the distribution of illegal narcotics. Investigators also seized quantities of suspected fentanyl and marijuana, along with a significant amount of U.S. currency believed to be connected to the illegal activity.
While Mr. Cook was in custody, he received a text message from an individual attempting to place an order for illegal narcotics. Fortunately, that delivery will not be taking place today.
Mr. Cook has been charged with:
* Delivery of Fentanyl
* Conspiracy to Deliver Fentanyl
Ms. Cales has been charged with:
* Delivery of Marijuana
* Conspiracy to Deliver Fentanyl
Both individuals are currently being held at the Southern Regional Jail pending court proceedings.
The Summers County Sheriff’s Office would also like to thank the Summers County Probation Office for its assistance during this investigation. Partnerships between law enforcement agencies continue to play a vital role in combating the distribution of illegal drugs and keeping our communities safe.
All suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
