HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – Ultimate Experience Outdoors, Inc. (UXO), an Alabama-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, whose mission is to provide outdoor therapy for veterans, children, first responders and Gold Star Families, and has recently expanded operations into West Virginia. UXO proudly provides those we serve with outdoor opportunities like hunting and fishing excursions.
On Saturday, August 17 UXO teamed with Resource Police Officers (NRPO) from the DNR to provide the community with a Hunter Safety Education Class at the Summers County Memorial Building in Hinton. The event was a tremendous success, with 64 individuals completing state requirements for hunter education. Attendees came from as far away as Putnam County, West Virginia and Wytheville, Virgina and ages ranged from pre-teen to adults. Everyone continuously thanked UXO and the West Virginia DNR for their efforts in planning, organizing, and hosting of this event. Corporal Jason Hudson, Officer Justin Deeds, and Officer J.C. Wheeler provided superior instruction on hunters’ safety, weapons handling, and general hunting regulations.
UXO WV Chief of Staff and event coordinator, Johnny Ratliff stated, “This was a great first effort for UXO in WV and I am proud of our team for the way it turned out. I want to thank everyone who played a part and special thanks to all who took the class and helped make it a success. Also, our UXO team members who gave their time on a Saturday to make this event the success it was.”
UXO would like to thank WV DNR officers Wheeler, Hudson and Deeds for their efforts. They would also like to thank the Summers County Commission for the use of their facilities, Kroger of Hinton for working with them on the lunch and Sam’s Club of Beckley for helping with the pastries and drinks. Special thanks to all who participated in the class and congratulations for obtaining your Hunter Safety cards.
