HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – The Summers County Historical Society will hold a public dedication of the “Inspiration Gallery” at Summers County Comprehensive High School on Saturday, April 13, at 2 p.m.
Inspiration Gallery will honor individuals who attended Summers County schools and went on to be recognized nationally for their significant achievements. The Historical Society plans to make the induction ceremony an annual event with more people being honored each year. This year five such individuals will be recognized.
While acknowledging those who will be remembered by history for their great success, the goal of the project is to make current students aware that they too can achieve great things—to inspire them to model their lives after these honorees who came from similar backgrounds.
Cotty Farley chaired the committee that developed the stringent criteria for selection and narrowed the nominees down to the final five who were chosen. Suggestions for future nominees will be accepted by the committee if they meet the criteria.
Dr. Jerry Beasley, former President of Concord College will speak at the dedication ceremony. All those interested in inspiring today’s students are encouraged to attend.
