HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – A gathering is planned at Ascension Episcopal Church on Good Friday. Organizers released the following information:
“Good Friday, remembering the crucifixion of Jesus, is an important part in the life of a Christian. On Friday, March 29, we remember that day. You are invited to join that remembrance in a community service beginning at 7 PM at Ascension Episcopal Church in the sanctuary. Ascension is located at the corner of Temple and Fifth.
“The service will consist of eight readings from Mark’s gospel. They focus on the events surrounding the crucifixion of Jesus. Besides the reading, each will include a prayer, a meditation with a contemporary application and the extinguishing of a candle. Representatives from the Catholic, Methodist and Episcopal Churches will take part.
“Good Friday is a day of darkness. It’s a day for both remembering but also looking ahead to transformation with the joy of Easter. Please join us in our worship.”
