Harry Lee Ayers
Harry Lee Ayers was born August 31, 1929, in Alderson, WV, and passed away April 16, 2024, in Spokane, WA.
He attended school and worked at a pharmacy in Alderson, WV, and was a member of the Old Greenbriar Baptist Church, alongside his family. He later joined the U.S. Army. Harry served 21 years, spending time in England, Germany, Italy, Korea, and the US, before retiring as First Sergeant. When he was in England, he met and wed the love of his life, Ann.
He was a numismatist and philatelist. He also collected militaria (such as badges, buttons, and postcards) and had a general collection of toy cars, old and new. His passion was buying and selling collectibles.
Harry had many friends in the community. He donated to the Union Gospel Mission, Meals on Wheels, Spokane Humane Society, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Harry Ayers is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann Patricia (Granger) Ayers; parents, Lonnie E Ayers, and Gertrude F (Woolwine) Ayers; and sister, Frances C (Ayers) Canterbury.
He is survived by his daughter, Patricia Ayers; son, Robert Ayers; grandchildren Brian Ayers (Candace) and Kendall Ayers (Jody); four great-grandchildren; and two grandnephews.
Harry will be forever remembered. Hennessey Funeral Home & Crematory of Spokane, WA, has been entrusted with his care.
