HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: According to a statement from Summers County Commissioner Mike Gore, the fire was in a single room on the sixth floor of the Hinton House. One individual has been hospitalized. Additionally, the building is being evaluated due to smoke and water damage, and the Red Cross has been activated to assist those affected by the fire.

The Hinton News will continue to gather information on this situation.

Original Story

Earlier today (Nov. 12), emergency responders were called to the Hinton House for a reported fire. A Summers County 911 dispatcher confirmed that firefighters are evacuating the residents, and an inspection will take place to determine the safety of the building. The dispatcher also noted that it is believed that the fire is contained at this time. However, they could not confirm whether or not any injuries were sustained in the incident. Emergency personnel remain on the scene.

This is an ongoing situation, and Hinton News will continue to update as more information becomes available.
