Through the remainder of December and January, “A History of Education”, curated by Linda Emrich, will exhibit artifacts from the past 100 years of educational developments, in the home, within the Public School System, and on through Graduate School. Among the local educators featured are; Helen Lee Arrington (dance school instructor) and Mildred Murrell.
Miss Murrell, a beloved elementary teacher was the last family member to live in the CFM House at 422 Summers Street. Miss Murrell retired from her first and second-grade teaching position at the Greenbrier School in Hinton in 1972. Follow Miss Murrell’s timeline and the materials she would have used.
At the CFM Gallery Exhibit, you will be able to read accounts of memories written by two of her grade school students. We welcome more memories that anyone might want to share of Miss Murrell as their teacher, friend or neighbor.
Campbell-Flannagan-Murrell House Museum is open for tours on Saturdays from 1:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. We also give tours by appointment. We will be closed on December 24th and 31st. For appointment tours and any other information, call 304-660-8093. You may also reach us on Facebook or cfm-fmh.org.
