Talcott Fire Department recently acquired a drone with infrared spotlight technology. One of the uses of this device is detecting warm bodies. This feature will provide vital assistance in locating lost individuals during search and rescue endeavors.
This drone will not only be available to serve the community of Talcott. It will also be available to the entire county. In an announcement regarding the drone, Commissioner Mike Gore said, “Talcott Fire Department will make this [drone] available for all of our police and fire departments.”
The Chief of Talcott Fire Department, Bill Costomiris shared Commissioner Gore’s post to the Talcott Fire Department public Facebook group with an added statement.
“This thing is absolutely awesome. We will be doing a lot of training in the next few weeks.”
Chief Costomiris goes on to say that the drone has red and green ID lights and encourages anyone who sees it not to be alarmed. He stated, “We’re just out learning.”
