This time of year city of Hinton and Summers County budgets are hammered out, and both local governments have held workshops and discussions about how much money is needed to fund the government, what can be cut and what can be invested in community improvements.
The Summers County Commission has a list of dates for budget workshop sessions for the next few weeks. The first one was held Tuesday, March 16. The sessions are open to the public but won’t be in person.
Commission President Charles Saunders and Commissioners Mike Gore and Ted Kula have scheduled the two remaining workshop sessions for Tuesday, March 23 at 9 a.m. and Wednesday, March 24th at 10 a.m.
All three commissioners have determined, ”based upon guidance issued by the federal government, State of West Virginia and the CDC that a public meeting in person constitutes a public health risk at this time.”
Summers County residents interested in participating in budget discussion and workshops are invited to call to join the meetings at 1-866-225-4944. Conference ID 8771004#. Technical issues can be addressed by calling 304-466-7104 for further instructions.
