SUMMERS COUNTY- The Graham House Annual Chili Dinner returns this fall on Saturday, September 26 from 12-3 PM. Attendees will spend an afternoon enjoying homemade comfort food, live entertainment, and local vendors. Also, fresh apple butter and apple cider, adding to the seasonal spirit.

Plates are available for $15, and proceeds from the dinner will help preserve and maintain the historic Graham House, ensuring it remains a treasured part of Summers County for years to come.

The Graham House is located between Alderson and Hinton on Rt 3/12 in Summers County and stands one of West Virginia’s oldest and most storied homes.

Built between 1770 and 1772 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1976, this three-story frontier residence has changed little over more than two centuries, except for a modern rear wing that hints at today’s comfort while preserving its historic character. The house was constructed by Colonel James Graham (1741–1813) as both a family home and a protective fortress for settlers on the Virginia frontier, offering a glimpse into a refined lifestyle that contrasted with the era’s typical log cabins.

The Graham House offers FREE guided tours (donations welcome) and hours are Saturdays, 11 to 5 and Sundays 1 to 5, offering a step into history through stories, artifacts, and engaging visuals.

For special tours of the Grahams House call Jim Bowling Treasurer at 304-716-6430. Jim invites everyone to come out and enjoy the tour.

If Vendors interested in participating in the Chili Dinner (no food), contact Jimmy Bowling at 304-716-6430. Vendor spots are free.

Enjoy an afternoon of homemade food and live entertainment while supporting the Graham House historic landmark preservation.
