WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS- Governor Patrick Morrisey told business and industry leaders at The Greenbrier that West Virginia is poised to play a major role in America’s energy future, pointing to billions of dollars in announced investments and thousands of potential new jobs.

Speaking during an event at the historic resort, Morrisey said his administration is focused on expanding the state’s energy production while creating an environment that attracts new businesses and economic growth.

Throughout his remarks, Morrisey emphasized that West Virginia’s coal and natural gas resources position the Mountain State as a key part of the nation’s energy strategy. He credited cooperation between his administration, the West Virginia Legislature and federal officials for helping attract new investment, noting that announced projects now total more than $15 billion and could create more than 15,000 jobs.

Morrisey also highlighted the state’s standing as one of the nation’s leading producers of coal and natural gas, saying those resources give West Virginia a competitive advantage for future industrial development.

The governor also discussed his administration’s broader economic agenda, including reducing regulations, improving workforce participation and investing in infrastructure needed to support future growth. He said initiatives such as expanding power generation and transmission capacity are designed to meet increasing demand from manufacturers and technology companies while ensuring West Virginia remains competitive.

Morrisey concluded by thanking state lawmakers, economic development officials and industry leaders for working together, saying the state’s long-term success will depend on continued collaboration and a commitment to building on its energy strengths.
