Students to Participate in Inspiration Gallery

SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – Students selected to introduce those being inducted into the Inspiration Gallery at Summers County Comprehensive High School are the following:

Ben Bragg introducing Butch Miles, world-renown jazz percussionist

Stephanie Williams introducing Christopher Harrison Payne, born prior to the Civil War, African American pastor, legislator, lawyer, and Council to the Virgin Islands

Sarah Okes introducing Blind Alfred Reed, well-known American folk singer

Ava Stover introducing Ella Marie Atkins, professor at Virginia Tech and prominent expert in drones

Marie McKinney introducing Ken Allman, entrepreneur and philanthropist 

Joshua Crawford, also a student, will be the Videographer for the event.

Inspiration Gallery is designed to inspire students to achieve at their highest level as the above-named individuals have done.  All inductees were educated in Summers County.  Last year’s inductees were Pearl Bragg, pioneer aviator, Cornelius Burdette, Olympic Gold Medal Winner, Sylvia Mathews Burwell, former US Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Gene Fife, head of Goldman Sachs in Europe, and Dr. Titus Pankey, physicist who made important discoveries pertaining to space.

The ceremony takes place at 2 PM on Saturday, April 12, at the high School and is open to the public.
