HINTON, W.Va. (Hinton News) — Summers County ARH Hospital is set to receive $725,000 in funding as part of a statewide initiative to improve healthcare infrastructure at rural hospitals. Gov. Jim Justice announced the Rural Hospital Grant funding during a ceremony at Boone Memorial Hospital today.
The funding, part of a $40 million grant program established in October by the West Virginia Legislature, is aimed at enhancing healthcare services at hospitals across the state. Summers County ARH Hospital plans to use the funds to renovate and upgrade its radiology room, improving the hospital’s capacity to serve the community.
Gov. Justice emphasized the importance of rural hospitals, stating, “Our rural hospitals are truly the lifeblood of our state. You don’t just show up for work—you answer the call daily. With these funds, we’re putting a stake in the ground and saying we stand with our rural hospitals.”
The grant program benefits a wide range of hospitals across West Virginia, with Summers County ARH among several recipients. The $725,000 will help address critical needs at the hospital, ensuring better care for patients in the area.
The funding is part of a broader effort to support rural healthcare, with additional grants awarded to other hospitals across the state for projects ranging from facility renovations to new construction and the purchase of advanced medical equipment.
