HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – It is a tale as old as time; cops versus firefighters. A “battle of the badges” between Summers County’s finest first responders is set to tip off on Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 7 p.m. The “Donut Eaters” (law enforcement) and the “Hose Draggers” (firefighters) will square off in a high-stakes basketball showdown at the Summers County Middle School Gym on Temple Street.

All proceeds from the event will benefit the Shop with a Cop program, which pairs local law enforcement officers with children for holiday shopping sprees. This heartwarming initiative aims to strengthen community bonds and spread holiday cheer.

The rivalry between the two first responding factions is legendary, and this matchup promises to be no exception. Fans can expect a fast-paced, high-scoring affair filled with athleticism, camaraderie, and friendly competition.

Players are eager to get on the court and the rivalry is already ramping up with The Summers County Sheriff’s Department stating, “To our firefighter opponents: NO MERCY!”

Admission to the game is free, but donations are greatly appreciated. So come out and support a great cause while enjoying some exciting basketball action!
