SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – For more than three decades, the Summers County Toy Fund has helped light up the faces of children during Christmas. Darrell Lilly, overseer of the Toy Fund, has assisted thousands of families throughout the years. Each year more than 200 children and 100 families are impacted with the joy of having a Christmas.
The Summers County Toy Fund is seeking individuals, businesses, civic groups, churches, etc. to adopt children for Christmas. If you would like to adopt a child please contact Darrell Lilly at 304-466-0476 or Stacy Ford, at 304-575-7026.
“We invite you to help keep the magic of the season alive and continue this tradition for our community,” says Darrell Lilly, Co-Chair of the Summers County Christmas Toy Fund.
If you are unable to adopt a child but would like to donate, you can mail a donation to P.O. Box 217 Hinton, WV 25951, or drop off to the Hinton Area Foundation located at 104 James St. Please make checks payable to Hinton Area Foundation and put “Christmas Toy Fund” in the memo. You can also donate online at hintonareafoundation.org/
If your family lives in Summers County and is in need of assistance for Christmas, you may pick up an application at the Summers County DHHR office at 322 Summers St. Hinton, WV. Applications will be open from November 1st – 30th; Nov. 30th is the application deadline. The program can assist Summers County residents with children from newborn to twelve years old. All applications are reviewed and vetted to establish eligibility. The program can assist with clothing and toys; bicycle requests are not applicable. All approved applicants will be notified by mail and given information regarding the gift giveaway.
