HINTON, W.Va. (Hinton News) — Five more properties in Hinton have been slated for demolition after being declared “unsafe and unrepairable.” The properties, located at 1111 Temple Street, 1121 Temple Street, 1114 Temple Street, 407 6th Avenue, and 217 4th Avenue, will be removed as part of an ongoing effort to rid the town of dilapidated structures.
The project is made possible through a $481,000 grant from the Dilapidated Properties Program (DLAP) of the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).
According to City Councilman Jim Leslie, the City of Hinton will “be returning properties to the public tax rolls via the Hinton Land Reuse Agency” later this fall. He noted that public announcements will be made regarding the process for residents to obtain these vacant lots.
Residents who own property they wish to have removed are encouraged to contact the city by emailing buildinginspector.cityofhinton@gmail.com.
