OAK HILL, W.Va (The Hinton News) – Senator Jim Justice joined the National Park Service and community leaders at New River Gorge National Park & Preserve to celebrate the groundbreaking of an $11.8 million rehabilitation project that will transform the 3.4-mile Rend Trail and Bridges.
“I am so proud to be here today celebrating this massive $11.8 million investment right here for the Rend Trail and its historic bridges. These bridges go all the way back to 1904; they once carried coal trains and stand as a living, breathing piece of our West Virginia history. We aren’t just fixing up a trail—we are investing in the future of West Virginia and preserving our history. I’ve said it a thousand times: our parks are one of the greatest economic engines we have in West Virginia,” said Senator Jim Justice.
