HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – A hole opened in the road near Triangle One Stop in Hinton on Tuesday, April 9 which caused some traffic delays. Department of Highways crews on the scene stated that it was not a sinkhole and that they were working to fix it as quickly as possible. The area was blocked off for the rest of the day.

The next morning, on April 10, crews shut down that part of the road and rerouted traffic while they worked on the area. By late afternoon, the road was reopened and repairs complete.

Photos of the hole quickly circulated on social media with many people making memes. A Facebook page that was created for the large sinkhole that opened at the then-current city police station, last year even got in on the action, commenting and posting about the new hole. Many of the memes can still be found on Facebook and beyond.
