HINTON W.Va (HINTON NEWS) – A safety risk for the seniors who use the parking lot at the Summers County Senior Center is on its way to being eliminated thanks to financial support from Senator Jack David Woodrum. The ongoing settling issue in the parking lot will be fixed with funds from the Senate and the Governor’s office.
This is not the first time that Senator Woodrum has helped improve the facilities for the seniors in Summers County. Last summer, he funded the reconstruction of the ramp, the primary access to the Senior Center. The Center’s Executive Director, Cindy Garrett, said the Summers County Council on Aging appreciates Senator Woodrum’s efforts and all the support received from local elected officials.
“We are all dedicated to providing the best facilities for the seniors in Summers County.”
Woodrum stated, “Our duty is to help older adults take care of their well-being to pursue new possibilities and activities and maintain their autonomy. Our older adults possess a lot of knowledge and experience, and it would benefit our younger generations to seek their guidance so that our seniors can share the skills and wisdom they have gained over their lifetime with them.”
