SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – If you happen to be one of the many people who love driving around looking at the beautiful Christmas decorations this time of year, be sure to check out David and Sherry Milburn’s home located on State Route 12 near the State Road garage in a historic white two-story house, the decorations are something to behold.
According to Sherry Milburn, she and her husband David have been doing the elaborate displays since moving into the home in 1989. The history with the Milburns doesn’t stop there, however. Mamie Milburn built the house, which is approximately 150 years old, according to Sherry Milburn. That makes three generations of Milburns grace the halls of the beautiful home.
The manger scene you can view while driving by is 60 years old and was purchased by David’s mother at the old Montgomery Ward store that used to be in downtown Hinton.
Not visible to drivers, but a beautiful fireplace resides inside the home decked out for the holidays and is original to the structure, along with the mantle and flooring.
Recently, a community member noted that the Milburn residence and its decorations are a spectacular holiday staple. Sherry Milburn told Hinton News she was surprised but very pleased someone had nominated her and David’s home to be featured and that they were happy to share their decorations and home with everyone.
This house is a treasure to its owners and those fortunate enough to drive by and see the beautiful display.
