HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – Unquestionably, veterans are one of the treasures communities possess. Summers County is no exception to this, and the community is invited to a Veterans Day program for a rededication ceremony of the Veterans Military Memorial this Saturday, Nov. 11, at 11 a.m. This event promises to be paramount to future generations as well as lifelong residents, according to spokesperson Elisa Camara.

According to Camara, the idea to rededicate the iconic memorial in Historic Downtown Hinton came to fruition thanks to Summers County Commissioners and local citizens who wanted to bring the military wall back to life.

Camara went on to say that after extensive research on the wall itself and contacting a well-versed military emblem signage company to complete the military display, the decision was made to move forward with the project.

Now, Camara asks the community to be a part of history and join us as we honor our veterans from every branch of our military and rededicate the Summers County Military Memorial on Saturday, Nov. 11, immediately following the 11 a.m. veteran’s service at the Summers County Memorial Building.

Each military emblem unveiling will take place at the memorial wall with a brief ceremony complete with patriotic singing, Camara stated. There will also be a special guest speaker all the way from Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Camara asks If you are a veteran, “please join us so we may honor you and if you are not a veteran, please join us to thank each of them for their service and dedication to our country, and, most especially, to thank them for our freedom.”

Organizers hope to see you at the rededication. Please join the community for this incredible event.
