SUMMERS COUNTY W.Va. (Hinton News) – This fall, 3rd through 12th grade students in Summers County have an opportunity to win cash for writing. The 2022 Summers County Student Writing Contest is now open, with a deadline of November 3.
This contest is being sponsored by the Jones Writing Fund, as well as the Student Writing Contest Pass-Through Fund, which is facilitated through the Hinton Area Foundation. The sponsors hope this contest encourages new writers to share their creations, get valuable feedback to refine their craft, and hopefully, get some cash as a reward for their efforts. Prizes are $40 for first place, $20 for second place, and $10 for third place in each category. Winners will be selected from each grade (3rd through 12th). Winners will be announced in December.
Contact Cheryl Kula with any questions. Entries can be turned in to the School Secretary for pick up – or emailed directly to Cheryl Kula at Cheryl.kula@gmail.com.
The Jones Writing Fund was established by retired teacher Lena Jane Jones, to encourage the practice of the writing craft for students of Summers County. The fund and contest are facilitated by Cheryl Kula. To make donations to this contest, checks can be sent to Hinton Area Foundation, PO Box 217, Hinton, WV 25951.
