HINTON W.Va. (Hinton News) – It will be 22 years ago, starting at 8:46 in the morning on Sept. 11 that this country fell under attack. It impacted everyone in our country and most of the world. It is a day no one will not forget.

It is good to look back, remember the feelings, and also try to see how that day shocked us and changed us, and can continue to change us.

On 9/11 at Ascension Episcopal Church at the corner of Fifth and Temple in Hinton, everyone is invited to join the church as a community to reflect and remember, to look forward and pray.

A cookout in the greenspace behind the church will begin at 6 p.m. Hot dogs, beans, chips, corn and ice cream floats will be served for a summer’s night.

Church members hope you will come and join the event. Everyone is welcome. The event is free. There will be music. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket if desired.

At 6:45 p.m. organizers will start the remembrance with reflections and sharing of memories. Then participants will look to hopes for the future and pray. The evening will end with the lighting of candles, prayers, the ringing of a bell and 2 minutes of silence.

Mark your calendars for Monday, Sept. 11 starting at 6 p.m. in the greenspace behind Ascension church. Please come.
