GREENBRIER COUNTY (Hinton News) – As previously reported by The Hinton News, two raccoons recently tested positive for rabies in Greenbrier County. According to a new update from the Greenbrier County Health Department, a bat has now tested positive in the Rainelle area.
If you have pets or eligible livestock that have not been vaccinated, please consider making an appointment as soon as possible. If you or a pet/livestock are exposed, seek immediate medical attention. According to the Centers for Disease Control, signs of rabies in animals include excessive drooling, general sickness, excessive aggression, wild animals appearing tamer than normal, a bat on the ground, and an animal biting at something unseen, among other things.
