HINTON, (Hinton News) – Summers County took on and defeated the Richwood Lumberjacks 13-10 on Friday, May 5, in their final regular season game.

The Bobcats snatched the lead in the third inning when they scored their first four runs. They put eight runs on the board in the fifth. The other run came in the sixth.

Brandan Isaac, who toed the rubber for Summers County, faced a minor nose injury while running the bases in the first inning but still pitched four innings and saw nineteen batters. Colten Jones pitched the other three innings.

Summers County had a total of sixteen hits, in which Isaac and Jones led with three each. Xander Hudgins, Devin Mansfield, and Ben Lane each had two hits. Peyton Miller, Grady Allen, Jake Boone, and Ryan Oliveros contributed one hit a piece.

Hudgins led in runs-batted-in with three. Issac and Miller followed with two each. Mansfield, Allen, and Jones each had one.

Lane stole four bases, which allowed him to surpass the school record for stolen bases in a single season. Isaac stole six, Oliveros and Mansfield stole two a piece, and Miller and Allen stole one each.

The Bobcats will begin tournament play at home on Tuesday, May 9, against the winner of Montcalm and Greater Beckley. Come out and support!
