Summers County Baseball wins big over Montcalm

HINTON, (Hinton News) – Summers County’s baseball team is now 3-3 after a 26-3 ten-run-rule win over the Montcalm Generals at Gardner Field in Princeton.

Summers took the lead early when Ben Lane scored on a Brandan Isaac double.

Isaac led the Bobcats in hits, going 4-for-4 at the plate. Colten Jones had three hits in six at-bats. Lane and Ryan Oliveros had two hits each. Devin Mansfield, Grady Allen, John Williams, Matthew Cox, Drake Davis, and Braiden Cozort had a hit each.

Lane led in RBIs, driving in six of the twenty-six runs. Isaac had 4 RBIs. Oliveros and Jones were responsible for three runs each. Other runs were drove in by Xander Hudgins, Peyton Miller, Jake Boone, Ben Bragg, Mansfield, Allen, and Cozort.

Oliveros, Cox, and Williams all toed the rubber for the Bobcats. Combined, the three Bobcats struck out eleven.

On the win, Assistant Coach Odie Gibson said, “Great game. Played pretty clean. I’ll take it! Go Bobcats!”

The Bobcat baseball team will travel to Charleston Catholic on Tuesday and host Westside on Thursday. The softball team will host Montcalm on Tuesday and James Monroe on Wednesday. Come support the Bobcats as they continue their baseball and softball seasons!
