HINTON, (Hinton News) – The Hinton Lenten Tradition continues with the first of two Fish Frys being held Friday, March 3, and the second scheduled for March 31. The Frys will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Parish Hall at the corner of Temple St and 2nd Avenue in Historic Downtown Hinton. As with many other aspects of our lives,  we all have been impacted by supply chain challenges – however, the Lenten Fish Frys will continue thanks to the efforts of the Parish and our community supporters.

“No one involved today in the Lenten Fish Frys remember exactly when they began,“ said Coordinator Larry Beverley, “but we do know that they have become an annual tradition over the years for many in our area”.

As explained by Beverley, the St. Patrick Lenten Fish Frys have been around for years and have evolved into what today is regarded by many of their devoted fans as the best fish fry anywhere. “From modest beginnings , we now serve hundreds of dinners between the two Frys,” he said, “a testament to the quality of the food and the reasonable price.”

The cost of the dinner is $12, eat-in or take-out, and includes fried or baked tilapia, rice pilaf or Potatoes Au Gratin, coleslaw, sweet roll, dessert and drink. The dinners will be served in the Parish Hall from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

Father Chin, Parish Administrator of St. Patrick added, “this is a time for everyone to enjoy a great meal at a great price this Lenten Season.” “This truly has developed into a tradition, a community event, and we look forward to seeing a great turnout, greeting old friends and making new ones. And we deeply appreciate the effort made by so many parishioners who work the events and those who come to enjoy it”.

The St. Patrick Lenten Fish Fry is a joint effort of the Women of St. Patrick and the men’s group of the Parish, the Friars’ Club. Proceeds from the dinners help support St. Patrick Parish and its charitable undertakings. Please come join us on March 3 or March 31.
