SUMMERS COUNTY, (Hinton News) – The 3Rivers Youth Theater will be holding a four-week theater workshop beginning February 6. This workshop is for young people from 4th to 12th grades, who are interested in learning new or improving their existing acting skills. Actors who complete the four-week workshop are eligible to perform in three performances in 2023.

Course Description: In this creatively inspiring four-week workshop, students will develop skills, engage their imaginations, grow in confidence, and learn to work together. Students will work on theatre games, monologues, scenes, and improvisation. Vocal selections from musicals will also be introduced for those who want to sing. Students don’t need prior theatre experience to be a part of this group. However, they will need to be ready to learn and be willing to work as a team member.

Workshop Dates, Times, Location:

• February 06 from 4 to 6 p.m., Memorial Building
• February 13 from 4 to 6 p.m., Memorial Building
• February 27 from 4 to 6 p.m., Memorial Building
• March 6 from 4 to 6 p.m., Memorial Building

Instructor & Director: Lisa Colombo, lisaanncolombo8760@gmail.com

Instructor & Assistant Director: Cheryl Kula, Cheryl.kula@gmail.com

Cost: The workshop is free, but space is limited, so you must register in advance. Good attendance is a requirement. Since space is limited, do not register if you cannot attend all dates – you will be taking a spot from someone else.

To Register: To participate, please email or message Lisa Colombo or Cheryl Kula. We need the young actor’s name, grade, and a good phone number or email address. This workshop will focus specifically on acting skills. Those interested in costumes, set designs, and stage crew activities may reach out to express interest in those activities as we plan for future workshops and events.

Performances in 2023 will include:

• April – Monologues and Scenes
• August – Play or Musical (Title to be determined based on ages and interest of the actors)
• November – Play or Musical (Again, title to be determined)
