The War Ridge Free Will Baptist Church held two Christmas Plays on December 10. The first play was an adaptation of the play “New Star”. Our cast is pictured above, from left to right. First-row townswoman, played by Bonnie Galford; shepherd, played by Brooke Fox; two townswomen, played by Makenna Mann and Makenzie Marks; Elizabeth played by Lisa Madison-Howell. Second-row townsman, played by Ashley Marks; Mary, played by Isabel Marks; Joseph, played by Grant Fox; Angel Gabriel played by Ayden McNicholas; Old Star, played by Betty Richmond and new Star played by Laura Rand. The play tells the story of an Old Star welcoming a brand New Star to the night sky and since the New Star knows nothing about Christmas the Old Star proceeds to tell her the story as she witnessed it over 2000 years ago. You see the Old Star was the Star of Bethlehem that appeared in the night sky proclaiming the birth of Jesus and leading the wise men to the Messiah.
Some of our players can be seen in their various costumes in the other pictures from left to right. Our angels: Makenna Mann: Ayden McNicholas as Angel Gabriel, and Makenzie Marks. Our three wise men: Makenna Mann, Brooke Fox and Makenzie Marks. Joseph and Mary with the young Jesus between them: Grant Fox, Hunter Mann and Isabel Marks.
The second play was an adaptation of the play “That Stupid Christmas Play”. The play tells the story of the Bryant family and their youngest sons’ questions concerning how some Christians don’t act much like Christians at all. Our players (no picture is available) were the Bryants: Dennis Galford, Bonnie Galford, their children played by Faye Mann, Grant Fox and Susan Fox; and their pastor, Doctor Rogers, played by Tommy Webb. At the end of the program, the audience joined our cast for refreshments at the church fellowship hall. We wish to thank everyone that came out and made our program a success.
