SUMMERS COUNTY, (Hinton News) – Summers County’s football, volleyball, golf, and cross-country seasons have concluded, and both basketball teams have been in practice for a few weeks now.
The coaching staff for both teams is the same as in the past. Coach Chad Meador heads the Lady Bobcats, and Coach Robert Bowling heads the boy’s team.
Both basketball teams only lost one senior at the conclusion of last season. The teams have had to make some adjustments since they are without Bryson Keaton and Maggie Stover this year.
This year there are numerous seniors on both teams. Liv Meador, Sullivan Pivont, Ashley Cooper, and Jesse Ward lead the Lady Bobcats as seniors. Meador commented on how she is feeling about her senior season.
“We’re all a year older, we have everyone back except one girl, and we’re more experienced. I feel confident about this season and getting back to the state tournament. We’re just trying to take it one game at a time and focus on our goal,” Meador stated.
Cruz Testerman, Peyton Miller, Ethan Eerenberg, Duke Dodson, Ferrell Mann, Sonny Whitt, and Michael Judy are the seniors on the boy’s team. Testerman is feeling optimistic about his senior season.
“I am excited for this year because I feel our team is more aggressive than last. We just have to play our game and do the things that are important to win. Our season should be better than last year having a couple new players, and returning players as well,“ Testerman stated.
The Lady Bobcats opened their season on the road Tuesday, December 6, at Shady Spring with an 84-46 win. Their next two games are part of the Vision Homes Invitational in Morgantown. Those games will take place on Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10.
The Bobcats open their season on Friday, December 9, at home against Midland Trail. You won’t want to miss this home opener!
