HINTON, (Hinton News) – Local police conducted a traffic stop on Oct. 5 that led to one man’s arrest. According to the criminal complaint, officers initiated the stop on a gray Ford Explorer due to the lack of an inspection sticker. After an investigation, the driver, identified as Christopher Dean Thomas, 47, of Hinton, was arrested on multiple charges.
During the traffic stop, the Sheriff’s Department’s K-9 unit was deployed and subsequently alerted on an area of the vehicle. During a search, the criminal complaint states that multiple needles, meth pipes and other paraphernalia were located. Additional searching led to the discovery of baggies containing marijuana. A large bag containing multiple small bags allegedly had the word “weed” and a “$” written on it along with an illegible word.

According to the criminal complaint, officers placed Thomas under arrest and transported him to the Summers County Sheriff’s Office for processing. During processing, one officer weighed the bags of marijuana found in the vehicle. Reportedly, six bags weighed approximately 2.3 grams, and three bags weighed approximately 3.4 grams.
At the time of writing, Thomas is residing in Southern Regional Jail on a $20,100 bond. He is facing charges of Driving While License Revoked for DUI 3rd offense, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance and No Motor Vehicle Inspection.
