Site preparation recently began on Hinton Landing/Bateau Beach, and Mayor Scott recently shared an announcement regarding the project on the City of Hinton Facebook page. The statement provides project information such as how long it will take and other vital details.
To begin, Mayor Scott thanked the West Virginia Department of Highways and West Virginia American Water Company for the two company’s cooperation in transferring the property to the City of Hinton.
When describing the project, Scott said, “It will contain a public beach, green space, picnic shelters, public e bathroom, playground, parking and have the space to potentially host events.” He goes on to talk about the origins of the plans stating that it is the result of a two-year collaboration with the WVU School of Engineering and local stakeholders.
The entire undertaking will take some time. According to Scott, the timeline cites nine months on the low end and 13 months on the high end. He also noted that between 60 and 90 days, a final draft of the plans will be made available to the public.
“We are sorry for the inconvenience during the construction phase and hope that the community will be understanding during this time.”
In the statement, Scott concluded, “We believe this project is a great benefit to our community and that it will be something that is utilized and appreciated by local residents and visitors alike.”
