Dan Greear was sworn in as a judge on the Intermediate Court of Appeals of West Virginia (ICA) in a ceremony at 3 p.m. today in the Supreme Court Courtroom. ICA Judge Charles Lorensen was sworn in during a private ceremony in the courtroom earlier today and ICA Judge Tom Scarr was sworn in during a private ceremony in Huntington on Monday.
Judge Greear was sworn in by Justice Tim Armstead. All five Supreme Court justices attended the ceremony, as did the other two ICA Judges. The ICA will begin accepting cases on July 1, 2022, fifteen months after Governor Jim Justice signed a law establishing the court. The three judges will work out of an office building in the Charleston that the Supreme Court purchased earlier this year.
