A syringe was found at Summers County High School, which prompted multiple social media posts. The Summers County Sheriff’s Department investigated.
According to a statement from Sheriff Faris, the type of syringe found is not typically used “for the injection of narcotics.” It is instead commonly used for insulin, which is a treatment for type 1 diabetes. Faris further stated that officers utilized a field test kit on the contents of the syringe. The results were “negative for any illegal narcotics.”
Faris said, “We take all matters like this very seriously and will always investigate with our full capabilities.”
