The Hinton Area Foundation (HAF) is offering tax credits to donors through Dec. 23. According to an announcement posted to the foundation’s Facebook page, as of Monday, Dec. 13 they still had $15,050 of tax credits left to distribute. The announcement states that individuals or businesses who donate $500 or more can earn 50 percent of that gift in West Virginia tax credits for 2021.
When filing, 100 percent of the gift can be counted toward Federal Income Tax itemized deductions, according to a social media post from HAF. In addition, the post states that it can be claimed under the $300 – $600 universal deduction whether or not you itemize.
