Summers County Halloween Events

Summers County is preparing for a whole host of events to celebrate All Hallows Eve. From Trick or Treating to costume contests, there is something for everyone. Here is a list of some of the Halloween events Summers County has to offer.

Trick or Treating in Hinton will be observed on Saturday, Oct. 30 between 6:30 and 8 p.m. for anyone who wishes to participate. Homes that are giving out treats are asked to turn on their porch lights and those who are not participating are asked to be sure their porch lights are off during this time.

The Campbell-Flannagan-Murrell House Museum is holding a scarecrow contest. Entry in the contest is free, but each vote for the best scarecrow is $1 each. The winner will receive $100. To enter, stop by the museum on Saturdays between 1 and 4 p.m. The contest will end on Friday, Oct. 29. Voting may be done online at cfm-fmh.com under the events tab.

Pipestem Resort State Park is holding a “Halloween Hullabaloo” event on Saturday, Oct. 30 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. The annual “pumpkin run” will begin at 9 a.m. with registration beginning an hour before at 8 a.m. Later in the day, a Trunk or Treat, costume contest, and a selfie station will be available for kids. This portion of the event will take place between 4:30 and 6 p.m. Tram rides are discounted 50% all throughout the day.

The Ritz Theater is holding a costume contest on Saturday, Oct. 30 beginning at 6 p.m. and lasting until 9 p.m. Participants will have their picture taken to be included in their “Gallery of Ghouls after signing a Model Release Form. Individuals do not have to be present to win. The Ritz will announce the winners on their Facebook page. The theater will also be showing a movie all weekend. Check the theater’s Facebook page for more information.

A Grand Opening event will be held at The Hinton Hub Ltd Co on Saturday, Oct. 30 beginning at 11 a.m. There will be more than 30 arts and crafts vendors, refreshments and Halloween goodies for the children in attendance.

Summers County Council on Aging is holding a Halloween party and costume contest on Friday, Oct. 29.
