Summers County REACHH held its annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 23. Various groups and organizations were present to hand out goodies to children who attended. Kids from around the county dressed up and came out for some Halloween fun, filled with all manner of treats.
The executive director of REACHH, Doris Selko said they are, “extremely pleased with it.” Selko went on to say, “We didn’t get to do it last year because of COVID, so we really had a good time doing it this year and trying to get back on track.”
“We had about, I think 26 vendors and about 200 kids, and I think everybody had a great time,” Selko said. She went on to say, “We were happy to get back outside, the weather was great, I think everybody had a really good time.”
REACHH’s Trunk or Treat is an annual event. Close to Halloween, often the weekend before, groups and organizations gather in the parking lots of Summit Community Bank and DHHR with the trunks of their vehicles filled with different types of treats. Some of the organizations that participate include the Summers County Library, Sheriff’s Department and the local dentist among many others. Unfortunately, the event was unable to happen in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Regardless, REACHH still provided bags filled with goodies to school children.
There are more seasonal events coming up in the near future from REACHH including a turkey dinner. These events are in addition to all of the regular programs REACHH offers to the community.
