It has reached that time of year when various school groups have annual sales to raise money. Among those groups currently raising money is Summers County FFA (Future Farmers of America) and the Summers County High School Band.
Summers FFA is selling poinsettias. Each flower comes in a six-and-a-half-inch pot and costs $12. There are four color variations to choose from; pink, red, white and marble. Every poinsettia comes wrapped for the Christmas season. The group is offering the option to deliver flowers as gifts or as donations to the nursing home or hospital. In addition, they are also providing a no-contact delivery, porch drop-off option. Money is due by Nov. 8 and poinsettias will be delivered the first week of December. All funds raised go to the Summers County FFA chapter.
The Summers County High School Band is holding its annual fruit sale. Due to COVID-19 precautions, the fundraiser will be held online at www.freshfruitorder.org. The deadline for purchase with a credit card online is Nov. 21 and delivery is tentatively scheduled for Dec. 6 – 10. Funds raised go toward costs for the music program. Any questions regarding ordering, pick-up or delivery, reach out to any member of the band, SCHS Band Boosters or the band director, J.D. Messenger. The SCHS Band Boosters president, Susan Ward can be reached directly at 304-660-7102.
These groups appreciate any support they receive from their community. All support for these fundraisers means keeping the programs going for Summers County’s youth.
