Willowwood Road suffered extensive damage due to flooding in 2018, which resulted in the road having to be closed. This caused those who live on Willowwood to have to travel the long way around via RT 3 to go back and forth to work, the grocery store, etc. It also had an effect on emergency responders. Finally, after roughly three years, the road has reopened according to a social media announcement from Summers County Commissioner Mike Gore. Gore also reminds the community that the speed limit in this area is 25 MPH.
