After being closed for quite some time, the Hinton Railroad Museum announced that they were once again open on Friday, Sept. 3. The museum had announced its closure in early 2020 due to the pandemic. After trying to reopen for some time, the museum began utilizing social media as a way to advertise for volunteers in August.
Now that the museum has reopened with the help of volunteers, the organization is looking for an individual to fill an AmeriCorps position. The applicant must be at least 18 years of age, but all interested parties above that age are encouraged to apply. The position includes tasks such as providing yours of the museum, pronation, recruiting and managing volunteers, inventory and organization of the museum’s collection and fundraising within the guidelines of Preserve WV AmeriCorps.
The chosen candidate will work 35 hours per week and be compensated $1,390 per month. There is also a $6,345 educational award and free professional training.
