Summers County Deputy J.A. Farmer is the very first recipient of the new Summers County Sheriff Department “Deputy of the Quarter.”
“Josh has been a real go-getter. Over the past three months he has excelled, making several felony drug arrests, responded to a ‘gun call’ the other night and made an arrest in Bozoo after shots were fired and he sets the tone for what I want for our guys,” said Sheriff Justin Faris. “He’s young, proactive, self-initiating and well-liked. He also listens like a sponge as he learns, retains, and willingly takes advice. It makes me proud to watch him grow.”
Faris intends to name “Deputy of the Quarter” every three months, and with that recognition “he gets to take one shift off, a one-time gift of being relieved of the eight-hour work shift by me, the Sheriff,” Faris continued. “I’ll be naming a deputy every quarter and offering the same gift.”
At the end of the year, the sheriff will select the “Deputy of the Year, and that deputy will get to go to the law enforcement class of their choice from subjects like drug interdiction and crime scene investigation.”
