The Summers County High School Bobcats hosted the Meadow Bridge Wildcats on Monday, March 22.
The game kept many Bobcat fans on the edge of their seats when it started with a steal by freshman Brandan Isaac.
Later, the Wildcats gained possession but senior Hunter Thomas stole the ball and passed it to Levi Jones (senior), who made a layup, scoring the first points of the game.
Logan Fox (senior) blocked a shot with a little left to go in the first quarter. At the end of the first, there was a score of 13-12 with the Wildcats in the lead.
In the second quarter, Hunter Thomas rebounded and passed the ball to Isaac, who scored a three. At halftime, the Bobcats only had a three-point deficit, 24-21.
By the end of the third quarter, the Wildcats had scored another 18 points while the Bobcats scored another 12, making the score 42-33.
In the fourth quarter, junior Sam Whittaker scored two three-pointers.
The Bobcats fought hard but were unfortunately defeated by the MB Wildcats. The final score was 48-56. The top scorer was Hunter Thomas with 12 points, followed by Levi Jones with eight points.
The Bobcats traveled to Meadow Bridge the next day, Tuesday, March 23, for a second chance against the Wildcats. The Bobcats were defeated, 52-43.
Tuesday’s top scorers were Levi Jones with a career-high 21 points, followed by Hunter Thomas, who added 10 points.
