As of August 30 the Summers County Library had been in existence for 49 years!!!!
That’s 49 busy, productive, often challenging but mostly miraculously wonderful and rewarding years. The last one was no exception.
On the challenging side: the bookmobile broke down, there are not enough staff to do everything that needs to be done, funding is not increasing fast enough to keep up with rising costs, etc.,etc. and so forth.
But still, something interesting, educational and entertaining is always going on in the Library! There have been craft workshops once a month for the last year, book discussion groups have met, children’s programs took place as well as art shows, book sales, a monumentally successful golf tournament, and the state’s biggest liar, Bill Lepp, who came to tell stories. The list goes on.
Much of this would not have been possible without the help of the members of the Friends of the Library, the volunteer organization that provides critical help and support to the Library.
