A Summers County man was arrested during the early-morning hours on Sunday, February 28 after allegedly assaulting another man with a pipe. Samuel Aaron Moore, 23, of Hinton, has been charged with one-count of malicious wounding in connection with the crime.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on the date in question, officers were dispatched to the alleyway between 11th and 12th Avenues in Hinton to investigate reports of an assault that left one man severely bleeding from the head.
According to the criminal complaint, once on the scene, officers spoke with the victim who advised them that Samuel Aaron Moore had beaten him with a pipe inside his home. Officers noted that the victim had severe lacerations to both his head and his hand. The victim also complained of pain in his right shoulder. The victim was then transported to Beckley Area Regional Hospital for medical treatment.
Once the victim’s home had been secured, officers began the search for Moore. At approximately 1:00 a.m., officers located Moore on Pleasant Street in Hinton, and placed him under arrest. Moore was then transported to the Hinton Police Department for processing.
While in custody, the complaint states that officers observed what appeared to be blood on the sleeve of Moore’s jacket. Moore allegedly claimed that the clothes were given to him prior to his arrest, stating, “If there’s anything on them it was from before I got them.”
Samuel Aaron Moore is Currently being held at Southern Regional Jail on a $25,000 cash-bond or surety.
