One of the Hinton community’s greatest treasures is tucked away on the third floor of the Summers County Public Library.
If you, or someone you know, needs job training, help with finishing school, earning a high school equivalency, or if you’re considering going to college, the path to the future can be found through Summers County Adult Education.
Jared Bailey and Melissa Jacobs work side-by-side to help plot your next steps, or help tutor parents to prepare them to help their kids with online and remote learning. Bailey is the coordinator of adult education and Melissa Jacobs is a transitions navigator. As a transition navigator Jacobs’ role is to assist people transition from high school to college-level academics. Her job includes resume writing and updating, helping students file FAFSA and choosing a plan of study that is matched with their interests.
Disruptions in classroom instruction at schools throughout the county have led parents and grandparents into an unexpected position of having to teach their children at home. Bailey and Jacobs can help refresh knowledge of fractions, decimals and algebra, or to learn any subject needed to assist children in navigating through these tough and challenging times.
