The Summers County Public Library has subscribed to Tutor.com on behalf of patrons. This allows anyone with a Summers County Public Library card to access for FREE a live, online, 1:1 tutor in over 40 subjects. Tutors are available 7 days per week from 2-9 p.m. The simplest way to sign up is by visiting the website: summers.lib.wv.us and click on the Tutor graphic and/or link, prompting you to Tutor’s website where you can enter your library card number and create an account.
“During this most challenging of school years, we hope to reduce homework stress and anxiety, while adding value to the hard work of teachers and students. If you or anyone you know is struggling with homework please let them know about this service,” suggests the Summers County Public Library.
While visiting the website sign up for Wowbrary, a weekly newsletter, to find out what’s new at the Library and at WV-READS.
The Library has recently added some interesting titles “The Return” – Nicholas Sparks, “The Last Story of Mina Lee” – Nancy Jooyoun Kim, “Breath Like a Bear: 30 Mindful Moments for Kids to Feel Calm and Focused…” – Kira Willey, and “In Praise of Walking: A New Scientific Exploration” – Shane O’Mara
Walking is worthy of praise because it is an approachable exercise that can help boost your mood, reduce stress, and improve sleep. Summers County Public Library has teamed up with Active Southern West Virginia to promote the Move Your Way campaign to encourage adults to get 150 minutes of physical activity every week. Join the Strolling Summers County activity challenge and Strolling Summers Facebook group to stay inspired and show how you’re getting your active minutes.
Want to make your walk even more enjoyable? Why not read?
That’s right, WV-READS (https://wvreads.overdrive.com/), Summers County’s digital library, has thousands of audiobooks available. For more information call 304-466-4490 or visit the Library.
The Bookmobile is back in action delivering books, smiles, and now WIFI. In addition to regular stops, the Bookmobile is piloting a WIFI program. It is currently visiting New River Citgo at Sandstone every Wednesday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. to beam WIFI to any patrons that may need it. Sandstone area patrons may pick up library materials from the bookmobile during this time; just call the library to make requests. The kind folks at New River Citgo were generous enough offer space for a little free library.
