SUMMERS COUNTY, W.Va. (Hinton News) — A fugitive who escaped from custody last month has been apprehended in Summers County, authorities said.

Sheriff Faris and Sgt. Ward located and arrested Jason Pitman on Tuesday, March 24, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.

Pitman had escaped Feb. 15 from the West Virginia Division of Corrections in Raleigh County. Authorities took him into custody without incident in the Judson Road area.

A second man, Darren Forren, was also arrested and charged with obstructing law enforcement officers in the performance of their duties, the release said.

Officials did not release additional details about the circumstances surrounding Pitman’s escape or the events leading to his arrest.
