MONROE COUNTY, W.Va. (Hinton News) — The West Virginia State Police have launched a homicide investigation following the discovery of a body in the Shanklin’s Ferry area on Friday morning.

According to authorities, two fishermen alerted police at approximately 9:40 a.m. after finding a burned-out vehicle and a deceased male near the riverbank. The victim has been identified as 55-year-old James Jeffries of Peterstown. State Police are currently treating the death as a homicide, and the investigation remains active.
