Maysel, W.Va. (Hinton News) – On Thursday, February 26, 2026, Troopers and Deputies from Clay County responded to Maysel, Clay County, West Virginia, regarding a reported shooting.

Upon arrival, troopers located the victim, Savannah Keaton, 31, of Massillon, Ohio, inside the residence, deceased from an apparent gunshot wound. The suspect, Richard Grad, 24, of Maysel, West Virginia, allegedly fled the scene following the shooting. Mr. Grad later met investigators at an alternate location, where he surrendered.

The suspect was taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder. Following arraignment, he was transported to CRJ.

The victim’s family has been notified. The investigation remains ongoing.
